Gate sequence for continuous variable one-way quantum computation

چکیده
Measurement-based one-way quantum computation using cluster states as resources provides an efficient model to perform computation and information processing of quantum codes. Arbitrary Gaussian quantum computation can be implemented sufficiently by long single-mode and two-mode gate sequences. However, continuous variable gate sequences have not been realized so far due to an absence of cluster states larger than four submodes. Here we present the first continuous variable gate sequence consisting of a single-mode squeezing gate and a two-mode controlled-phase gate based on a six-mode cluster state. The quantum property of this gate sequence is confirmed by the fidelities and the quantum entanglement of two output modes, which depend on both the squeezing and controlledphase gates. The experiment demonstrates the feasibility of implementing Gaussian quantum computation by means of accessible gate sequences. DOI: 10.1038/ncomms3828 OPEN

Continuous-variable and hybrid quantum gates
We provide several schemes to construct the continuous-variable SWAP gate and present a Hermitian generalized many-body continuous controlled-NOT gate. We introduce and study the hybrid controlled-NOT gate and controlledSWAP gate, and their physical realizations are discussed in trapped-ion systems. These continuous-variable and hybrid quantum gates may be used in the corresponding continuous-v...
متن کاملArbitrarily large continuous-variable cluster states from a single quantum nondemolition gate.
We present a compact experimental design for producing an arbitrarily large optical continuous-variable cluster state using just one single-mode vacuum squeezer and one quantum nondemolition gate. Generating the cluster state and computing with it happen simultaneously: more entangled modes become available as previous modes are measured, thereby making finite the requirements for coherence and...
متن کاملFrom Qubits to Continuous–Variable Quantum Computation
By encoding a qudit in a harmonic oscillator and investigating the d → ∞ limit, we give an entirely new realization of continuous–variable quantum computation. The generalized Pauli group is generated by number and phase operators for harmonic oscillators. The use of continuous–variable (CV) quantum computing allows information to be encoded and processed much more compactly and efficiently tha...
متن کاملAn introduction to measurement based quantum computation
In the formalism of measurement based quantum computation we start with a given fixed entangled state of many qubits and perform computation by applying a sequence of measurements to designated qubits in designated bases. The choice of basis for later measurements may depend on earlier measurement outcomes and the final result of the computation is determined from the classical data of all the ...
متن کاملDemonstration of a quantum nondemolition sum gate.
The sum gate is the canonical two-mode gate for universal quantum computation based on continuous quantum variables. It represents the natural analogue to a qubit C-NOT gate. In addition, the continuous-variable gate describes a quantum nondemolition (QND) interaction between the quadrature components of two light modes. We experimentally demonstrate a QND sum gate, employing the scheme by R. F...
